Music at Success!

Jenny Gaunt teaches class Music Year 1 - 6 and Senior Choir.

Hi, I’m Ms Gaunt (*not my real guitar).

Dear Students and Families,

I am collating resources for you to use at home. I will be gradually adding to them below.

Music is so important for wellbeing. I encourage you to bring it into your family’s life as often as possible in these challenging times.

Try the rhythm activities…how far can you go? Try the music games. Go to your year level and listen to the songs you know. Learn a new song! Share your finds in the comments below.

Thanks for visiting the Music at Success Primary School website!

What do we do here? Students from PrePrimary to  6 attend weekly music classes. These lessons include moving, singing, playing a range of instruments, listening, reading, writing and creating Music.

What else? Extra-curricular Music activities are available to selected students. These groups include Senior Choir (Years 4 – 6), and the Atwell Area Concert Band.

The Instrumental Music School Services program runs within the school. This Government program provides a select group of Year 5 and 6 students with instrumental lessons within school time (at present we offer Trumpet, Trombone, Clarinet and Flute).

Anything more? All students are encouraged to broaden their horizons and experience Music incursions. In the past we have welcomed jazz band Adam Hall and the VPs, OperaWA and the local area concert band into our school. We also participate in Music: Count Us In each year – an event where students participate in a whole-school music-making performance.

But why??? All students are encouraged to involve themselves with Music to the best of their ability. Music makes so many contributions to kids’ development; it assists their academic achievement and social/emotional wellbeing, it enhances brain function, memory, concentration and ability to express feelings. And it’s fun!
